Alter-G secures $8 million in series B financing from Versant Ventures

Alter‐G, a privately held medical device company based in Menlo Park California, has secured an $8 million round of series B funding from Versant Ventures. The proceeds will be used to continue to accelerate the company’s growth. Ross A. Jaffe, MD, Managing Director at Versant Ventures, will join Alter‐G’s board of directors.

FDA Clears G-Trainer Anti-Gravity Treadmill for Medical Applications

The FDA has cleared Alter-G, Inc. for marketing the G-Trainer as a medical device. The G-Trainer is applicable for medical uses in rehabilitation after lower extremity injury or surgery, aerobic conditioning, weight control, gait training for neurological conditions, and strengthening and conditioning for older patients. In addition, during 2007 the G-Trainer has already seen overwhelming adoption as a training and conditioning tool that also reduces the risk of impact-related injuries while exercising.

Alter-G, Inc. congratulate Dathan Ritzenhein, an avid user of the G-Trainer, on his success at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Dathan Ritzenhein came in second at the U.S. Olympic Trials held in New York City on November 3, 2007 with a personal best time of 2:11:07. He’ll be joined in Beijing with Ryan Hall, who came in two minutes before Dathan, and Brian Sell who came in third.

Elite Athlete Podiatrist Talks About The G-Trainer at New York Athletic Club

Dr. Amol Saxena, podiatrist to elite athletes, including Olympians, joined by noted professional runner Shalane Flanagan, will be giving a presentation at the New York Athletic Club (NYAC) about the benefits of using a G-Trainer for injury prevention and training through injury recovery.
